Golden Week ’23: Part 2

In the previous post I shared my urban sketching adventures around Shanghai. I thought there was too much to share on that post so I decided to do a part 2 but this time focusing on the other type of creative stuff that I was able to get done.

Starting off with a big highlight from our holiday is the exhibit called “Beyond the Streets” which we were fortunate to see before it ended. I thought it was a really cool exhibit about graffiti, how it became an art form and all the different artists who started off as graffiti artists before they became well-known. And the best part? My kids enjoyed it! They basically wandered off without me having their own “twin bonding” time. Here’s some snapshots from the exhibit:

With the extended vacation days, I was so happy to have been able to catch up on some weeks of Wanderlust 2023. Here are some of my pages.

Playing with plenty of textures and different mediums.
Mini tags play for this lesson. Most will be used for my other projects. And one of them already went into my art journal page (below).
Went down the rabbit hole of stitching up plenty of French knots on this vintage postcard.

Finally, I made my foundation pages for the upcoming December Daily… I am anticipating this to be my last year participating since my kids will be off to uni by the next December. And they are my biggest “reason why…” I have been documenting our Decembers for the last 12 years. So this will be the 13th year I will be on this journey; I took 1 year off of documenting December this way.

Messy table as I took out my Christmas supplies to put into my foundation pages.

Are you documenting your December this year? What are your plans?

Finally, I made a cat zine from the Get Messy Ama-Zine class.

Would love to hear your thoughts on your art-y plans for these next few weeks before the end of the year.

Thank you so much for stopping by.
