A Short Trip to Taipei

This trip wasn’t part of my travel plans for 2026, but I needed to return to Taipei to sort out some paperwork.

With heavy rain forecast, I wasn’t sure how much art and journaling material to bring. I wanted to travel light, so I decided to keep things simple.

It was the perfect opportunity to finally use my Peerless watercolours, which I’d had for ages! Before the trip, I’d cut the watercolour sheets into smaller pieces to fit an accordion-fold palette for my Traveller’s Notebook.

I also brought two Traveller’s Notebook inserts because, well, I couldn’t decide between them! 😂 One was the accordion watercolour insert, and the other was the Half Trip insert. Along with those, I packed a small pouch with just a few scrapbooking tools and bits of ephemera.

Between sorting out paperwork and catching up with my aunt and cousin, I managed to squeeze in some sketching, checking out stationery shops and exploring around my old haunts. Luckily, the weather was much better than forecast, and I enjoyed sunshine and dry weather for most of my stay.

What I hadn’t expected was how emotional I would feel revisiting certain places, particularly Da’an Park and the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. So many memories of my dad came flooding back, especially from the years when we were all living in Taipei.

It’s funny how returning to familiar places can bring back memories you hadn’t thought about in years.

Anyway, here are my little journals from this short trip—a mix of sketches, collected bits and pieces, and memories.

Thank you for stopping by.
